Sunderland Marine is one of the most established providers of insurance and possibly the longest serving to the aquaculture industry, having issued its first policy for an aquaculture risk in 1986. Since then our aquaculture service has expanded both geographically and by operation type, from the very smallest to the very largest site. Today the Company insures more than 20 species in 16 countries and has become the largest single underwriter of aquacultue risks worldwide.

The volatile and relatively high-risk nature of the aquaculture industry requires very focussed and selective underwriting technique. In addition to this, our wholly owned subsidiary, Aquaculture Risk (Management) Ltd, was formed to provide our Members with a comprehensive risk management service and to assist with the application of risk controls.

We provide techincal support to the Company's Members through annual site visits worldwide. Indeed our surveyors have completed over 6,000 site visits since AR(M) Ltd was formed and this wealth of information has provided a unique and valuable database.

Our dedicated and experienced team of underwriters, claims personnel, risk managers and aquaculture specialists work with our Members to create innovative and tailor-made packages to ensure the best protection possible for their individual requirements. Our integrated "all risks" policy includes cover for stock, equipment and support craft.
