Community and Environment

At Sunderland Marine we endeavour to provide the Membership with a high level of service in addition to proactive support for the industries we serve, especially the promotion of safety awareness and training. We also strive to maintain relationships with our local communities in the UK and overseas and whenever possible, to extend our support to local charities and good causes. Both the Company and individual members of staff have participated in numerous fund-raising events.

Our interest in such worthwhile events does not only apply to people but also to the environment in general. Due to the nature of our business we have always been aware of global environmental issues and it is important to us that we are conscious of climate issues and that we act to minimise our carbon footprint and the impact our business has upon the local environment in which we work. To this end, our current efforts include:

• UK head office with environmentally friendly features: efficient heating and cooling system, rainwater recycling system and permeable car park paving.
• A proactive programme to supply reduced emission vehicles to employees who service the business.
• Video conferencing facilities for the worldwide network of branch offices to reduce the need for overseas travel. This also applies to UK contacts.
• An active Green Travel Policy that is regularly reviewed and enhanced.
